I bought this item at Fry's. It installed easily and things were looking good...until I tried to use it. It chirped like a faulty radar detector even though there was nothing behind the car. I also have a backup camera which verified the void but the PS-1 EZParkng sensor chirped away. I found it useless for it's purpose. I will return this to Fry's.

I ordered this camera with the 7" monitor. The picture is amazing, even in the dark! I would highly recommend this system. The cameras run on either batteries or you can plug them into the wall. The camera has a magnetic back so you can easily attach it to any metal surface The best thing about this camera is the picture. I was amazed that such a small camera has such a great picture.

Also, Joe is very helpful. I highly recommend 4 U cam.

I put this on my Pontiac G5, and mounted an lcd screen on the rear view mirror. It has a fish-eye filter in the lens, so you can see all around you when you are backing up. The LED's for illuminating after dark make it much easier for a vehicle with tinted windows to back up at night. It has an adjustable pivot, so you can aim it up and down as well. I'm going to move it to the front of the car to test the night vision while driving at night. We have open range for cattle on the highways where I live, and you can never see the black cows at night until your are already on them, (literally). That would be great if this could give a little more range at night. I'll update this comment once I test it out.

I still have not received this mirror after waiting a month. The first mirror was the wrong model and did not even work. I shipped it back and I am still waiting for the right mirror to be shipped. waiting and waiting! By the way, the first mirror I had was very dark, and when installed in my truck it was hard to see out of. During the day it was almost like driving while dark. You could not see the images good. But I guess that is quite common with all these type of mirrors. I could not tell you if the camera was good because it did not work.

It works fine when i tested at home with a 12V power supply. the mirror is dark, but you may get use to it. the pictures is OK. slight grainy. It is not nearly as good as the Toyota manufacture one on the prius, but it is bigger than the one on the rear mirror from Honda. However, it works. It is very difficult to install. the instruction is not very clear. I have put many upgrades to my cars, and these is the most difficult one thus far. I think because all the other upgrades are OEM products or well adapted to the market. There is very little information on the installation(I have searched on Google for hours with no result). you basically need the mechanical Manuel of the car to wire this. and the wires provided are too short. All the connection will end up in the middle of the A column for most cars. after a day of trying, I have to give up. We took it to the dealer. They could not do that either. So I have to return it:(

Great idea, but need major improvement on installation instruction.

"My biggest Mistake on Amazon yet" 2009-10-04

After a lot of research on Amazon in search of the perfect reverse cam add-on for my VW Touareg SUV, I settled for this product; even though there were little or no reviews to aid my decision but I just relied on the product specifications hoping it will do what it says it will do. The Item shipped in promptly as ordered, I hired a professional to install it, who told me that he was more familiar with more established brands as this brand was barely known, and he hopes it will last in the long haul. It worked fine as the picture quality was good enough even in night vision with a good viewing angle. But unfortunately after three days it started blinking and picture-fading intermittently, it continued until the fifth day when it finally went blank and practically died on me. I took it back to the installer you tried checking it, trying to see if there was any breach in connection but everything was fine. He told me that he had installed so many reverse cams for different vehicles but this is the first time a reverse cam will fail and become faulty in such a short time being just within a week. I really do regret buying this product; I should have just gone with known brands like PIONEER or PANASONIC. I am so upset that I wasted 160 Dollars on such a piece of crap that I can't even get myself to un-loose and send it back. I highly DO-NOT recommend this product for anyone desiring a reverse cam that will work and stay working.

I found the Audiovox SBAR backup sensor on Amazon and other sites after searching for this type of item for a while. The instructions to install were clear and simple. Build quality is great. However after installation and testing the unit would not work. It always measured everything as though an object was three inches away. Moving the unit to other locations didn't help. I think I got a defective unit but I I'll wait a while before buying another one. Some favoralble reviews will determine if I buy it again.

Bought this despite no reviews. Installation was very easy, (odyssey 2006). I installed on the lower edge of the license plate, drilled a hole to take the wire inside, and connected to the rear lamp circuit. Stuck the buzzer on the rear window.

It works by buzzing loudly when it senses an obstacle 3 to 4 feet away, when reversing. The actual height of the obstacle sensed depends on where its mounted (lower near the bumper or higher near the license plate). It has three sensors, the outer two are angled out slightly. It does not seem to give out wide coverage and basically works when the obstacle is right in front of the sensor bar. The sensor bar seems well made and robust. All in all, a decent product.

This is a good value. The camera is inconspicuous on the rear license plate, and the image on the mirror is large and clear. The camera works well both during the day and night, and it is really easy to adjust the camera angle.

The only thing I don't like about the product is that the anti-glare coating on the mirror is way too dark. It's hard to see anything in the rearview mirror that is not well lit behind you while you are driving forward at night. Unlike a regular rearview mirror where you can choose between a shiny silver mirror and the dark anti-glare setting, you are stuck with the anti-glare setting once this is installed. I'm slowly getting used to this, but I'm not happy about it.

I had this mirror professionally installed by a place that also installs car alarms, auto-starters, etc. It took them 1.5 hours to do it, and cost me $75. They hid all of the wires, and it looks great. I'm not worried that someone will break into the car to steal it because they think it's a GPS unit, and the overall cost sure beats the $1500 the dealer wanted to charge me to install a rearview mirror backup camera!

I would rate the PRODUCT a 4 - it works as what it supposed to be.

But the installation to the front reverse light power line requires a lot of skill and knowledge to your car's wiring system. alls in the manufacture installation instruction was "connect the blue line to the reverse power line, red wire to the 12V power line.....". I contact Boyo for tech support, all I was told was that "this is meant for professional installers". I didn't want to screw up my car, so i paid $100 to have it installed (I want to add that I have installed numerous radios and subs to my previous cars and didn't have much problem). - good product over all. But if you are not too good with all those wires in your car and you plan to DIY, you really have to think about it twice.

I recently bought an expensive system to adapt the built-in nav system on one of my cars so that it would display the picture from a rear-view camera. I really liked the results, as did my wife, but that was a $500 adventure with no labor cost.

So when I thought about adding a rear view camera to an older mini-van which lacked a nav screen I was distressed to find that I might be looking at $1000 or more to install a good size screen.

So I tried a cheaper solution: a "wireless system" with a 3.5" screen, which cost about $100. Really a disappointing result, as the picture was way too small, and was dim and the "wireless" aspect didn't work reliably.

[You need to understand that "wireless" means no cable between the camera and the screen. There's still a lot of wiring to be done: the camera needs to be wired to 12v, to ground and to the back-up lights. And you need to run power to the screen. All you really get to skip is running the cable from the back to the dashboard area, a considerable labor savings, but at a big sacrifice in quality and reliability.]

Also the field of view of the cheaper system was much smaller than the one on my other car.

So I kept looking and this Boyo system had some good comments so I took a chance on it. My overall rating is that it's a good mid-point between the $100 system and something MUCH more expensive.

Pros:

Big screen.

Mounts over rear view mirror so the placement is much better than on the dash or on a visor.

A BIG surprise: the kit includes the ability to install as either wired or "wireless", which is not mentioned in the product description. (I did the wired version.)

Works well in low light.

Good field of view (pointed so you can see edge of bumper, it also shows to a distance of 12 feet.)

Sturdy camera enclosure, with adjustable camera angle.

Provides for a second video input.

Cons:

Like most LCD's, somewhat dim during day, especially if you're wearing polarized sunglasses.

Quite grainy in very low light situations.

This unit functions as the rear view mirror when the car is not in reverse, and it's darker/dimmer than the stock mirror.

The display is about one inch thick and fairly heavy, and it vibrates a little as a result, which further degrades its performance as a rear view mirror.

So it's not as good as an OEM unit, and the normal rear view mirror function is degraded (which may be a deal-breaker for you) but it performs MUCH better than anything I've seen in this price range.

Very nice little camera. The quality is plenty good enough to see what is behind you (although there is a little noise, I imagine more from the long cable). I drilled a hole in my plastic bumper and mounted it and found it to be a little troublesome. The collars are designed to rotate with a cam action to allow it to be aimed, but it is pretty awkward to adjust and level. Other than that I am very satisfied and feel that this is maybe the best safety feature for a car, especially if you have kids. Be sure and order you a standard video cable the length you need as it only comes with one long enough to go inside the car.

I had backup cameras in the past for my RV and also my Excursion to help hook up the trailer. I normally purchase Audiovox equipment so this is the first time I bought a Boyo. I had Best Buy install it after I found out that it was only going to be $80 to have it installed. This is well worth it considering you have to run wires to the monitor.

I also purchased the Boyo 3.6" monitor as well. I was very impressed with the camera performance both night and day. It also gives you a nice wide view of the back of the car. The camera is preadjusted from the factory but you can adjust it to tailor your needs. The installation was pretty straight forward as well. Overall I am very impressed with the performance. I was debating about the wireless model and actually wound up buying one but then returned it as the stereo shops told me that whenever they have installed the wireless ones, they have to take them out and put in the hard wired because of interference.

Also, the rear license plate does not look bad. It doesnt make the car look like a Special Ed car. The license plate frame complements the car nicely.

This is all you need for a rear-view camera. I paid 3-4 times this much to another vendor for a larger-screen gadget for my other car; it attaches to and is bigger than the rear view mirror and provides great color. It was a royal pain to install and cost me a bunch of money for my local garage mechanic. (the other vendor gave me a store credit to make up) But all you need is this little 2.5" screen in black and white (most of the time). I wish I had known about this before I bought my first one. You don't need HD! You just want to know if a kid or a dog or a bicyle is lying behind your car, and this gadget will tell you that for less than $100. I installed it with a little difficulty, in 3 or so hours, with just basic tools. If you are reasonably handy, and you get lucky like I did in terms of the accessibility of your back up lights, you can do it. Basically you need to run a wire from the back-up light, inside the trunk, and finagle it through to connect to the camera which you attach to the top of your rear license plate. If you can do that, the screen just plugs into the cigarette lighter, and you're in business. Worked the first time, for me.

All these cameras are of necessity extremely wide angle, so that you see all you need to see, hence it is very difficult to judge how close you are to something as you back up. All they really tell you is, is there something back there, or is the coast clear. But that, as noted above, is all you really need to know.

I purchased this item to install on my late model minivan after having had a WinPlus backup camera (very similar) on my previous vehicle--so I have an idea of how these type of cameras perform in general. Ultimately, I chose this item over similar ones because I wanted something weatherproof and having a larger field of vision (more on that later). I don't really like the camera being included in the somewhat bulky license plate mounting bracket, but settled for that to get the other features that were more important to me. I actually prefer a smaller unit that can be mounted less conspicuously. If you install this unit on the top of the license plate it obscures the state name (in my state anyway) which is illegal, so I had to install on the bottom holes of the license plate. Also, in order to achieve an appropriate amount of downward angle on the camera/bracket so that you can see closer to your bumper, the use of the supplied angled shims and adjustments to the license plate mounting overall is clunky (the camera itself is not adjustable and cannot be tilted up or down independent of the entire bracket it is housed in).

This brings me to my biggest issue and that is the error in the product description--not just on Amazon, but everywhere on the internet it seems. The product description online claims 110 degrees of horizontal view which is superior to the typical 90 degrees of similar products. More expensive cameras can show 130 up to 170 degrees which would allow you to see almost everything on either side close to your bumper, but 110 is acceptable to me. This makes a big difference in what you can see from side-to-side, especially the closer you are to the camera (e.g. small kids or toys on the corners of you bumper). However, when the product arrived, the box and packaging clearly state that the horizontal view is only 80 degrees (vertical is 60 degrees)! So beware, you will not be seeing much on the sides as you get closer to your bumper--field of view is shaped like a pie piece, getting broader the further away from the camera you go. To me, it is most important to see things closer to your bumper which requires a larger field of view. This mediocre field of view was confirmed upon installation. If I could find a comparably priced system that was weatherproof (maybe this one isn't either if they were wrong about other things) and had a larger field of view I would buy that instead of this one. Very disappointed in the erroneous product description which led me to purchase a product that I might not have otherwise.

The installation went ok...pretty much as described though I could not get the inline wire connectors to work and had to hardwire it into the driver's side backup light socket. Once installed, the camera functions reasonably well. With all wireless cameras, you will get some occasional flicker/static--more depending on whether you are near other 2.4ghz wireless interference (e.g. wifi internet connections). It works according to specs and does an adequate job, even in low light with the included night vision (notice the tiny infrared 'bulbs' on either side of the camera lens). Would be nice if the included LCD monitor was a little larger than 2.5 inches. My previous unit had a 3.5 inch monitor which was noticeably larger and easier to view. Overall, this is a pretty average unit compared to similarly-priced options. Don't know that you will do much better unless you spend more.

Positives: Inexpensive, works, weatherproof (or is it?)

Suggested improvements: Improve the field of vision and put the camera and transmitter in a smaller form factor that can be more easily mounted in other locations besides the license plate. Include a larger LCD monitor.

This camera set up seems to be well designed & of good quality. We played with it around the office, only at the length of it's attached wires. However, my pick up is a 4 door long bed 4x4. We call it the space shuttle. It's length puts the camera on the rear bumper too far from the monitor on the dash & the signal on the screen is pretty scratchy & fuzzy. I have successfully backed up to a tailer alone with it but I sure wish the signal was clearer.

I bought this because it has both a back up camera and sensors. I also liked the fact that it attaches to the license plate so I didn't have to drill any holes in my car. Other nice features are that it isn't wireless so you always get a nice clean picture on the backup camera and you don't have to separately wire the monitor to a power source because it gets its power from the backup light wire connection. Note that you have to chase a wire from the back of the trunk to the dash where you intend to install the monitor. I accomplished this by removing the door sill kick plates, which were attached with plastic push pins.

I had several minor install problems when attaching the sensor bar to my license plate. First, in my state (MA) you can't attach anything to the license plate that hides any part of the plate. The kit supplies some brackets but they weren't the right size to hang the sensor bar below my license plate. I made some brackets from aluminum bar stock that I got from Home Depot. The brackets were fairly easy to make and only required a hack saw and a drill. Once installed I found that I was getting a false signal because the license plate is slightly recessed on my '09 Camry, which caused the sensors to pick up my stop light housings. This was easily corrected by simply bending the brackets that I made to stand off the senor bar far enough so that the sensors wouldn't pick up my stop light housings.

One installed the back up sensors and camera worked great! The back up camera is clear both day and night. The sensors start picking up objects when you are about 5' away. The monitor starts beeping and the display shows some hash marks indicating how far you are away. As you get closer the beeping increases in frequency until you get a steady beep and the display says STOP. On average this happens about 2' from an object. The camera has a wide angle lens so objects appear farther away than they really are. However, with a few uses I can now back up to within 1' from an object using the sensors and the back up camera.

If you own a SUV, truck, van or car with limited rear visibility this is a great safety device. I highly recommend it. The quality is top notch.

This unit works great with my Boyo CCD license frame camera. The only flaw is when there is direct sunlight the image is difficult to see. When it is darker or at night the image is so clear which reminds me of my Lexus RX with original navigation/backup camera package!!! Overall it is a great unit. It actually makes my big Toyota Sienna minivan a lot more fun to drive (especially during parallel parking on tight New York City Streets!!!!)

This product works pretty much as advertised and is easy to install (assuming you know how to route wiring through your vehicle and locate the +12v, ground, and reverse wiring). Picture is very nice and clear, and nice size, clamps securely on existing rear view mirror, and disconnects easily for storage in vehicle. 6", single cord pigtail disconnects easily leaving connector harness up in ceiling. Connected to reverse wiring the unit will power up in less than half a second and switch to video2 as soon as the vehicle is put into reverse. Connect a backup camera to run off the backup light wiring and camera will only be on as needed.

One caveat, using the device as a mirror pretty much looks like a conventional mirror in dimmed mode, so is hard to see after dark. Not sure there is a reflective coating that would have worked better, but that's just how it is.

Also, some functions (reversal of video, input select) are only available via the remote. Would be nice if you could access without. To be honest I find the remote functionality to be only marginally useful.

All in all I give this guy a big thumbs up especially for the money.

I bought this camera and am generally happy with it. It has a very low profile, can't even tell that there is a camera present (especially if your car has a part of bumper that sticks out over the license plate area). I used anti theft screws to secure it, but paid for the installation. The picture is low-res but good enough to discern license plate numbers of cars lined up behind you and works better than expected in low-light conditions.

It would be nice if Boyo would include distance markings that would allow you to judge how close/far you are from objects - otherwise it takes a bit of guesswork initially to know how close an object is based on where it is on a screen.

You can't even tell there is a camera on your plate unless you get very close to it.

The documentation says it has good low lux visibility and they are true to their word. The first night I used the camera, I thought out loud, "Wow, you can see the entire street."

It is a noisy picture, though, both during the day and at night. It is a tiny cheap camera with a regular a/v feed. I didn't buy this for the clear picture. I did buy it for the 150 degree wide angle lens and it does the job quite nicely.

I'm waiting to see it survive in the rain now...

I got this for $20 to use with my Pioneer AVH-P5100DVD unit, set up was easy as well as installation, during the day you get Color display which I was not expecting, at night in complete darkness you get a green colored image almost as night vision goggles.

NOTE: The image from this camera is like when you look on your house door peephole, so objects are actually closer than they appear, but once you practice on a wall or another car you own its easy.

I got this camera a while back, but had delayed installation due to no mounting hardware,contrary to the item description. Finally opted for trailer hitch plug housing install. Power wires are a bit small for my liking. Using it on a Boss Audio BV9995B head unit that I also bought from Amazon.com. OK picture but the night vision is lackluster at best. Haven't tested the waterproof claim yet. Will go deserting and dunes this season. Hope both electronics will last!

The camera provides an impressive image regardless of price and in addition has a built in alignment scale which is digitally overlaid on the screen. I use this product with a JVC NX-7000 and the image is crystal clear. The field of view is amazing as I have mounted it inline and 4 inches from my ball on the receiver hitch and the ball is shown in full view. This has made it much easier to connect to my boat trailer and arrive aligned and at the correct distance on the first shot every time, the scale shown on the screen makes this an easy task. The camera is rated waterproof and I have not tested this as of yet but for the price the test will occur soon and an update to this post will be made, if the camera passes then I will be adding one to the back of my trailer so I can see what is behind the boat when backing in parking lots. The camera has been wired to the reverse lights and power up time is instant once the vehicle is put into reverse. There is nothing negative I can think of about this product.

I was trying to think of a way to mount this on my new pickup. As I didnt want to drill a hole in the back of my new truck, and I really didnt want it hanging down from a bracket, I came up with this idea. I bought the cheapest black square one I could get and trimmed off the part around the outside that was larger than the insert part. That way I could slide it in from the back of the hitch. Then I drilled a hole though the end of it to fit the camera size, mounted it flush with the end of the cap, and used silicone calk to seal it into the hitch plug. The silicone has some give to it, so it can flex a tad in cold or hot weather, and I can lock the camera in the hitch with the standard key locking ball hitch safty pin that I use to tow with.

I put a clip I made from the end of a clip board and mounted it on TOP of the hitch under the truck so when I am towing and the camera would be useless in this situation anyway, I just pull the pin, and clip it up under the truck onto the platform hitch, and put a baggy over the camera with a zip tie to keep it on and sealed.

When I drop the trailer, I pop this back in and my camera is active again. Just a thought if you dont want to drill holes in your truck or have someone walk off with it in a parking lot that has a screwdriver in their pocket.

The camera works fine, not great but good enough to know when to stop before I hit my garage door in the dark when i back into my driveway. It is great during the daytime, and in color too!!

I have to tell you, when I saw this camera for sell for $22.00, I really thought I was gonna waste my money. I love being surprised. I've got a new head unit for my truck that has a motorized 7" screen that comes with a rearview camera input, thought what the hell. The pictue is surprisingly clear and at night it's grainy, but better than antisapated. It's almost like military night vision. During the day the picture is in color (wasn't expecting that) and at night, black and white. One draw-back is that there's no mounting hardware, so be prepared to drill a hole about 1 1/8" in diameter, but if your going for your bumper, it's fine. So for anyone looking for a cheap camera that preforms, this is what you need.

I could not find a shred of info re. the camera as to wired or wireless prior to purchase - asked several vendors and they could not answer the question - nothing on the manufacturer's site and no response from them.

When it arrived I discovered it is wired - however, there is an extra red dongle off the camera with what looks like a coax-style dc power plug - which is undocumented in the instructions.

There is a connector with bare wires to connect it to power and it worked.

Lashed it up in the office-workshop and it all works fine - except that I was unable to get the lights to activate on the camera - wasn't able to locate the light-detecting diode in order to cover it.

Will update once it has been mounted on the vehicle and tested.

Although I would have liked the camera to be a bit smaller, I am pleased with the camera and the rear view mirror LCD screen. The system came complete with everything needed to install and the instructions were easy to understand. Even though the camera only has a 130 degree viewing angle, one can adjust the camera to eliminate almost all of the blind spot behind the vehicle. The camera does not have night vision; nevertheless, the picture is very clear when backing up in a city street. The rear view mirror installs easily and the picture is of good quality. I was concerned with a review that mentioned that the rear view mirror was darker that the regular mirror. However, looking through it is manageable and not as bad. Overall, this system is good for the price and I would recommend it.

Overall I have been happy with this system. The wires were easy enough to install. You will need a little mechanical ability to get the panels off your car and to splice into the backup lights. The monitor in the mirror is good quality. The camera is crisp and the colors are true. The only think i don't like is that the mirror is darker than a normal mirror. It is in night time dim mode all the time. I suspect it was done that way to match the reflectivity of the monitor portion of the mirror. I wish they had left the monitor portion non-reflective made the rest a normal mirror. At any rate it is entirely usable and I'm getting used to it. Also the camera is a little big and kind of sticks out a little on my nice new car. All in all I like having the monitor in the mirror. It keeps the clutter down in the car.

If you're going to sell in the US market, please take the time to write your instructions in clearly understood and correct English! Module for the readout is very small -- that's a good thing. About half the size of your palm. Please be aware that you cannot cut the pre-configured wires running to the Sensors in order to lengthen them. This is true for any of these Sensor-type products.

It's adjustable so make sure you get your bumper in the field of view for a point of reference so you know how far away you are from an object. I had initially bought a Vr3 3.5 inch setup which I had even bought the wire for. Well that was a complete disaster. The image quality on that camera was terrible.

The Boyo BTL300 is the complete opposite. This camera works great, has a fantastic field of view and is unbelievable at night. I tested it last night in the dark, the image in my monitor looked like it was a black/white daytime shot. Complete clarity and everything was visible. Also, the camera itself is so small and slim it is not noticeable at all.

So far I'm very happy with this unit.

I tried to get some help from the seller and the manufacturer but the seller said contact the manufacturer and the manufacturer never responded to my email. It works. Image isnt crystal clear, but good enough to see what is going on behind your car. Only thing I noticed was that because the device has such a large apeture, when it rains, you can see the raindrops pretty easily. Never had a RV camera before, so I am not sure if this is an issue with all RVC's or just this one (becuase of the size of the lens). However, for ~$30, you cant go wrong. Really dont use this function enough to pay $200+ for one of the name brands.

This is a good reverse camera. Those who are complaining about it's size, the size makes absolutely no difference on performance and this camera performs. I have it hooked up to my JVC KW-NX7000 receiver and it works perfectly in any source mode. I have the reverse wire hooked up to my receiver and it's worked perfectly since I hooked it up. Simply shift into reverse, the camera starts up right away.

DO NOT BUY THIS!!!! its junk. blurry black and white "negative" looking picture, very dark, it's junk no if ands or buts about it. i tried to install it and thought i did it wrong so i took it to a shop and they laughed when i showed it to them, they told me it was junk before hooking it up and i asked them to hook it up anyways, they did and with the same result. I'm out the $30+ i paid for it and also the $50 for the install.

I purchased the parking and reverse sensor to put on my Chevy Colorado, but the bumper is not made for the demensions needed for the 2 or 4 sensor system, so I can't use it. I hate to return it, because I returned the backup camera. (It didn't have a monitor with it)

Just a piece of C...ap, cheap plastic (all of it) from the package only 3 of 4 sensors worked, is installed on my 2009 Ram truck and never reads anything, if its a cold day, it shows 0.0 and bips continously, if it's hot same thing.. and never gives an acurate reading. please dont throw your money away (like i did) dont know if there are other sistems that work, but these one does not!! if you open the plastic circuit box you will see that there is some kind of calibration posible but no info at all, no manual, no internet info...

i guess i'll buy a reverse camera, at least i can see what's back there and not "hope" that the sensors actually sens something

I ordered it based on the picture shown and the item description. I wanted a system with at least 4 sensors (like the image and description says) but the system i received isnt the system shown nor does it have 4 sensors. It has two. Everything else is ok (i did get the boring tool), but its not what i expected

This was easy to install and the sensors seemed to be a good design. They even give you a decent hole saw to cut the correct size hole to fit the sensor in your plastic bumper cover. It may cut through a chrome bumper too. Wiring was straight forward except display is for mounting on dashboard. I mounted mine on rear window shelf so I plugged in the sensors in backward order (i.e 4 into 1, 3 into 2, 2 into 3 and 1 into 4) This way the diplay shows which side of car the obstacle is. It does beep when you get close, then beeps continuously when you get real close (1.5 ft for mine.) My wife likes it too. I spray painted them which did not damage them. Looks Factory.

Does the job. Beware not to install too close to the ground, because then you will get the beeps from every stone behind you. Same for the sides. If it's too close to the side of the car, it detects the sidewalk.

This is the only rear view camera I've ever used, so I had nothing to compare it to.

The build seems solid, the picture quality is good. My concern is the fish eye lens. Objects only several feet behind the car appear to be at a safe distance. Also, since my vehicle's rearward visibility is not good with the cabrio top back, I'd hoped to be able to judge if 'the vehicle' behind me was following too closely ... it's useless for this due to the fish eye. As a 'back up' camera it fills the bill. As a rear view camera, it fails. If it had a less extreme fish eye lens, it would get 5 stars.

I purchased this camera to work with my Kenwood deck. Its an excellent camera that has three little wires. Because this unit was going into a Tacoma, I had to split the wires and put in a waterproof connector at the tailgate. After doing this, I tested it and it still works very well.

Once I installed the PIONEER AVGVDP1 Vehicle Dynamics Processor, I had a video screen. That's all that's necessary to use this unit, and provisions are there to plug it into it's own box and from there to the video screen box. So when I installed the VDP-1 I left room on the component mounting board to install the control box for this device. As it turned out the control box is the size of a box of Tic-Tacs, so the space I left was very generous..

Every time I went to that big world-dominating discount store, I looked at the cheap rear-view camera and every time I would leave it on the shelf, waiting for it to come down from $100 to the $20 it's probably worth.

But it is one of the items that has never in my experience been "Rolled Back". So eventually I stopped watching it but never stopped thinking about how nice it would be to have one. Our Jeep Commander Overland has one that came from the factory and it's very useful for spotting the curb before the rear juts past, for lining up when parking, and so on.

I drive a Chrysler Crossfire. I love the car and on the road, the rear view (with properly angled mirrors) is just fine. But backing up is another thing altogether. Side rear view is very limited and large things can be directly behind and invisible through the rear window.

There have actually been times I've gotten out and checked before daring to back up. And I have had quite a few close calls with other drivers going way too fast in parking lots and sneaking up on me after I had tried to check. I consider myself a good driver so this is frustrating.

Some reviewers claim the night vision is not very good. But video screens have adjustments for this on the better monitors. I took a minute to adjust my Pioneer AVD-W6210 touch-screen in the night-mode and the view is like daylight, both in terms of sharpness and color quality.

So in my experience, the night view is a function of the screen and settings. And remember that if your back-up lights aren't very bright, there isn't anything short of night vision that's going to help...

What impressed me most about this unit was the incredibly small size. The control box is the size of a pack of Tic-Tacs. The camera is the size of a single bullion cube. The product picture on this site is actually larger than life size!

Since I already had a compatible Pioneer video screen installed, the addition of this unit was mindlessly easy. I literally plugged in the 12-volt, ground and video cables, stuck the camera to the back of my car, routed the wires, and it was over. The camera worked great first try.

My screen gives the option of "mirror" or "normal" views so I have the choice of how I want to see the view. The camera comes on automatically when I put the car in reverse. Pretty darned easy!

It cost me very little more than the Wal*Mart unit and far exceeds it's capabilities and quality. The added bonus is that the camera is wired in rather than wireless and battery-powered.

This is worth every penny!

I'd installed the camera in my Jeep Grand Cherokee with Pioneer 5600 DVD. The Installation was not simple, since I had to add extra video cable (the power cable is longer). As I noticed in other review, the hole saw that was supposed to come included in the kit was missing so I had to buy another one to be able to make the proper hole. The camera is water and dust resistant, and has a clear night vision, but since it has no angular lens (peep hole type) it doesn't cover both ends of the bumper and right there you miss the whole point of having a rear view camera. Just because of that, I would suggest further research of other similar products.

Overall this seems like a very good camera. The quality seems good and so far has not had any issues due to weather like previous cameras. I didn't want to drill a hole in the body of my truck to accommodate this camera so I installed it into a plastic housing under the bumper. It gets a good view, but surprisingly it can't actually see to the corners of the vehicle. The viewing angle of the camera almost makes it, but objects have to be 3-4 feet away (behind) the corners in order for the camera to pick them up. In the worst case, if something were right at the bumper on either side but just out of view of the side mirrors, you wouldn't be able to see it and could hit it. Other than this, if you're starting out somewhere that you know to be clear, then you're OK and can use your mirrors and camera to make it all work. The image quality is quite good, and at night can see well too.
